That's My Girl!

I think I've mentioned before about the little wooden tool kit that we have for the girls as well as HG's delight over playing with about 50 q-tips that we put in a ziplock baggie for her. Today, she had both of them out, scattered on the floor around me, at the same time. She then pointed at the Legos I had a bigger ziplock on top of the desk. In my very best spanish, I told her that she had to put the other things away in the box and bag and then she could have the Legos. I was busy reading the last few pages of "My Sister's Keeper" and so I admit I wasn't paying close attention. I then feel a bump on my arm and I hear HG talking to me. I look down and here's what I see.

See, I didn't say specifically that the wooden pieces went back in the box and the qtips back in the bag, so she followed directions accurately. I guess I need to be more specific next time, huh? And who said that this girl was retarded when she can clearly follow my lame spanish directions?

I didn't post yesterday because I lost the internet connection again. I don't understand it all, but they fixed it easily this morning. We had a nice day yesterday. We had "home church" and talked about how God provides us with bread and what exactly that bread is. The girls understand so much more than I give them credit for understanding. When we each picked our own song to sing, we decided that HG's song was going to be "Waves of Mercy." While she has her own version of the words to this song, she definitely sings them to the correct tune. Sometimes when we are walking around town, she will start singing this song and so I'm sure she really likes it (she knows many songs but this is one that she starts singing by herself at least once on each walk-about). I'll have to see if I can video her doing it because it's rather cute. Anyway, a few days ago, we met a family at the pool. Our girls were already busy playing together in the pool when we started chatting. Funny thing is that we had emailed before our trip down here because they have a condo that they rent out. It obviously wasn't available because they are here! We exchanged phone numbers, saying that it would be nice to get the girls together to play sometime. They had called and asked us over for a pizza and pool party at their condo. So, we headed over there for some afternoon fun which sort of turned into an all day of fun. Other families were there too and then after they left, the girls all continued to have the best time playing together. The girls then suggested that we all have dinner together and so we headed out to a great restaurant where I had never eaten. The waitstaff must have seen the tired looks on the faces of the kids because they put us in our own room, complete with a TV/DVD and movies! The kids selected Shrek and were mesmerized (and quiet) throughout dinner. The daughter, R, taught HV how to crochet. She's loving it! Today we HAD to go to the store to buy her some yarn and her own crochet needle, of course. (She's been rather quiet with it, too, so it was Q7.25 well spent for both supplies).
Thanks again for having us over and for a wonderfully good day! We all enjoyed it!
