No Papel, Day 4

The alarm went off at 5 a.m. this morning and we were out of the door by 6 a.m. We arrived at the Judge's office at a few minutes after 8 a.m. I hired a translator to come with me who has done work with some of the other families before with this Judge. She was great BUT we did no receive the paperwork needed to get custody. :( The clerk said that it will be THURSDAY before she will issue the paper. She said that the "law" is that the court has 3 days to respond to the request and that even though we took it on Friday, that day didn't count because it was received after 3 p.m. So, it is considered to be received today (I had to submit a paper saying that I wanted custody, where I live, etc.). The clerk said that she would TRY to get it done by Wednesday, but she would not guarantee it. Crazy. I reminded this clerk of HV and HM saying that they were going to spend the night in the Judge's office and stay there until the paperwork was issued. I reminded her of the Judge saying "solo fin de semana" which means "only for the weekend" and then you can have your sister on Monday. Nada. The clerk said that the Judge said that if I could not be my request into her office on Friday, I needed to come on Monday morning to submit my request. Not so. For those of you that really know me well, you know I have a great memory. Also, the Judge kept telling the girls "solo fin de semana" which does not "jive" with the clerk is saying. I could not see the Judge because I was told that she was in a hearing. The orphanage director even tried to call but was not able to speak to the Judge, only the clerk. She was told the same thing. We are sad and bummed out but are praying for the paperwork to be issued on Wednesday afternoon. We have to go to a different Court on Wednesday for another part of the process and it would be good if we could combine trips, coming back on Wednesday afternoon with HG.
We're napping now and then I promised the girls we'd have some ice cream today before they go to bed and so I must be a woman of my word. Oh yeah--I still have no luggage. The airlines said today that they are 100% sure that the luggage will be on the flight tonight. Yeah, right.
Bummed out big time!
