We are Here

Welcome! My sisters have encouraged me to create a blog and I have resisted. It's just one more thing for me to do, right? Well, I've now decided it might be easier to do this instead of emailing folks all of the time with updates on our lives and our current journey of our 3rd adoption from Guatemala. I still feel the need to be a bit private, so I'm not going to use names here, just initials. Perhaps that will change over time, but hey, it's better than nothing, right?

Grab a cup o' joe (or Diet Pepsi if that's better) and meet us. Most of you already know us, but I'll introduce to you the gang:
K--that's me. I'll do probably all of the writing on here (at least until one of the kids takes over!). I do work outside the home for a local municipality in the field of Recreation.
J--she's a behind-the-scenes kind of gal. I highly doubt she'll do any writing on here as computers are NOT her favorite thing. Sports? She's there. She is retired but works part-time outside the home, just for fun. She does an awesome job at keeping our home running!
HV--the oldest H kiddo at a whopping 9 1/2 years of age (the 1/2 is very important, you know). All of the Hs were born in Guatemala. HV joined our family in February 2000 at the ripe ol' age of 4 months of age. Our love affair with Guatemala began at that time. We've always called HV an old soul, thinking of things well beyond her years. She's a lover of animals (especially horses and dogs), books (has read 2 books in the last 2 days!), and music. She'll always be our biggest baby!
HM--currently the youngest H kiddo in our household but soon to become the "middle child!" HM is 6 years old and joined our family in January 2004 at 9 months of age. HM is a little thing, but she packs a powerful punch! She can scream with the best of them! She's a lover of lipgloss, nail polish, and whatever HV likes! Don't turn your back on her. She'll be into something before you know it!
HG--soon to be the youngest H in our household. HG is still in Guatemala but we hope to have her home SOON! She is currently 4 years old and lives in an hogar (orphanage) in Guatemala. We've been working on her adoption since December 2007 after praying about God's will for her in our lives for the 3 months prior to that. She is developmentally delayed and has extreme vision issues but we are optimistic that we can play "catch up" and help her to achieve her full potential. HV and HM are ready to both be big sisters!
Hershey--I guess this is one of the only names I'll use. She's our super sweet chocolate lab doggie. She too is 4 years old and is a great companion for the adults and children alike. She's our walking buddy and no one can swim at our house without Hershey joining in! While she is a big dog, she's as gentle as they come. Heck, she's had to learn to endure the "abuse" of two young children! I've seen her sporting hair bows, headbands, her tail being "cranked" in a circle and more. She just takes it in.
Our family attends church at a Lutheran (ELCA) church in our city where we're involved with children's ministry, small group/Bible study, worship, and simply learning more about our awesome God.
As a family, we enjoy the great outdoors, boating, fishing, playing games, and spending time together!
Enough about us for now. Come back and check on us when you can!
Peace and Blessings!
