She Came

As I told you before in our introductory post, we are currently in the process of adopting HG. While we filed to begin her adoption in December 2007, it has not ever started. Yes, it was filed, removed from the Court system, refiled, re-removed (is that a word?) from the Courts. It's been an ugly mess and not something I will discuss until HG is home with us. We have continued to push and perservere for this little one to officially join our family. Our latest hold up on the refiling was waiting for HG's biological mom, M, to come in to complete some paperwork. We've been waiting for this to happen for the last 3 months. M knows that she must participate in HG's adoption process but she is a simple woman and coming in to the City is a scary thing. As my case has changed hands several times, the persons contacting her, asking her to come in, have changed and that has scared her as well. M came to my attorney's office about 3 weeks ago as she said she would, but she did not bring her ID. Nothing could be processed without it. So, she was asked to come again. M finally came on Thursday! Yeah! More importantly, she brought the appropriate paperwork! Double Yeah! And so now, a mere 18 months after we filed to begin the adoption, it shall begin. M's participation is not over but she is willing to participate and understands what is required of her. I pray that she will continue to be brave, not fearing this adoption process. She is, from what I am told, eager for HG to be part of our family. M knows that HG has special needs and she is aware that she cannot provide for her adequately. We are just simply excited to finally have SOME good news on this long, drawn out adoption process.
I do not know at this time if the case has been filed again in the Courts but I hope to have confirmation on that tomorrow/Monday.
