NO More Booby Trap!

Here's a picture of the good ol' Booby Trap!

HM's days of being a thumb sucker are over. She loved that ol' thumber. Nothing seemed to be able to help her stop--heck, she didn't even realize she was sucking it half of the time. So, back in October, we decided to move forward with the installation of her "habit appliance." We more affectionately called it the "booby trap." Impressions were taken and our clever pediatric dentist, Dr. W, made this tricky little device. It prevented HM from even being able to put her thumb on the roof of her mouth. She has done well since then but we do see her on occasion thinking about putting it in there. Dr. W asked if we were ready to take it out in April at our cleaning and we said not yet. So, today was the day. HM was way pumped about the prospect of being able to chew gum again and eat things "sticky." Dr. W agreed to take it out. I did ask him if he would keep it safe, just in case we needed to put it back in there. Smile. Yes, he said he would. So, 5 minutes later, out came HM, grinning ear to ear. NO MORE BOOBY TRAP! She had to show EVERYONE at church last night that her trap was indeed gone. Most people, of course, didn't even know that she originally had one. So, fingers crossed that she will continue to keep that thing out of her mouth.

Peace and Blessings!
