99.99%

DNA picture

I received a scan of the DNA report from the lab yesterday. This compares HG's DNA with her mom's DNA. Up to this point, the US Embassy has referred to her as the "alleged biological mother" of HG. Well, she's 99.99% her mom so I guess they can remove "alleged" now, right? I have been confident all along that M is indeed HG's mom. That's not the issue or my relief. My relief is that the samples weren't lost, there were enough "cheek cells" on the swabs to complete the test, and this part of the process is OVER!!! We will now push the Embassy to release the Embassy Consent (or preapproval as some of you may know it) and we will work diligently (thanks J and D for your help in getting this done quickly) to get the paperwork processed here in the US and down to Guatemala. Yippee!! Another step down!

  1. so SO pleased that this step has now happened! really hoping the final bits of paperwork get shifted along as fast as humanly possible - still holding our breath for HG to get home
