I know. I said "More later" at the end of my last email and now, a week later, I'm finally posting. Sorry. My nail-spitting-news was a report from a meeting in Guatemala that said that it would be AT LEAST 2 more MONTHS before the PGN/Attorney General would be able to review our file. Now, this review isn't the final review but merely a review to release the file from the Minor's Section (investigative unit) into the regular flow of processing. They've had the file since August 2009. They interviewed HG's mom in April 2008 (yes, almost 2 years ago). And they still need at least 2 months? So, I was hacked. We were hacked. I've prayed and continue to pray. We've now received clarification that this woman said 2 WEEKS not 2 months. Big difference, right? No, I don't understand how they could need two more weeks, but whatever. I'll take 2 weeks over 2 months any day when talking about a delay in the process. And so, we wait. Wouldn't that be a great Valentine's Day present for our family to receive news that the file has FINALLY been released for regular processing? Oh my heart....
I got an email yesterday from HG's sweet foster brother. He shared some little glimpses of HG with me:
She has learned how to set off her foster mom's car alarm and enjoys doing so from inside of the house, climbing up on a chair to do so and then chuckles.
Every day, she opens a little "surprise" from us. It's typically her snack for the day and we have little "love notes" inside of the packages. HG's sweet foster mom saves the little notes (and recycles them in other/new presents as needed) in a special little box with HG. HG will get the notes out and pretend that she is reading them. After "reading" the note, she will say "Mommy, HV, and Who Who" (which is her name for HM). Sweet girl!
She has a new friend at school--a boy friend!
She got her new glasses and hasn't been removing them and hiding them. Yeah! She so needs to wear her glasses. I don't know a lot about eyeballs, but I'm learning that she must wear the glasses so that her retina can "learn" how to receive an image and then her brain "learn" how to interpret the image. Sorry if I didn't explain that correctly, Mrs. Optometrists (both of you!), but it's a simple understanding. Since HG didn't get glasses until she was 3 years old and hasn't really worn them consistently for the last 2 years, she REALLY needs to do so now.
She's dressing herself now (this frustrated her quite a bit this summer, especially the shirts) and is going to the potty by herself now too.
Oh, be still my heart... I miss my girlie something awful.

Hey, girl, this is Kathie (I met you in line at the USE in Guat. early Dec.). I'm so so sorry to hear about another delay. I know how heartbreaking this must be and know how your family aches to have your sweet HG home. We'll be praying for things to move quickly.
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,
Kathie
Thanks, Kathie. I remember you well. I actually emailed you the other day, but perhaps it didn't go through??? Glad to see that Daniel is doing well.
ReplyDeleteglad that it is 2 weeks and MAD that there are any more delays ... ever ... for any crappy reason ...
ReplyDeletesending hugs and everything inbetween each and every day to you all - we NEVER ever forget the hell you are all going through - we will rejoice and celebrate bigtime when we hear that HG is going home at last
