Trials with the US Embassy
Oh, friends. Since I have last written, I have made a quick trip to Guatemala. I'll write more about that experience and getting to spend a little time with my sweet HG in a day or so. Right now, I ask for your prayers for the staff of the US Embassy. For some odd reason (I honestly don't understand it and so I can't explain it to you), they have made a bizarre "conclusion" to HG's case. While "the fat lady hasn't sang" yet by any means, it is a big obstacle for us right now. They are asking for paperwork/documentation that does not legally exist for HG because of the type of case that she is. This case type is decided by the Guatemalan government, not the US Embassy. And so, I am currently trying to "convince" them of HG's legal status by simply showing them the proof in the writings/declarations of the Judge and the Appeals Court. It's not my opinion. It's the declaration from the Judge that states her legal standing. The Embassy, however, has opted at this point to disregard that and make their own rules. Please pray that they will retract their current requirements as it is impossible for us to comply. Please pray that they will simply see their oversight with this issue and will issue that preapproval/Embassy Consent. Please pray that if the officer doesn't see or understand the information she is reading, one of the coworkers, whether in Guatemala or in Washington DC, will help her see the information that is clearly stated in the resolution. Please pray that this will be resolved this week. It can happen. I know it can.

Oh, it was so nice to meet you and HG while waiting in line at the USE. It breaks my heart to hear they need more documents to prove what was so evident that day--that this little girl is certainly your daughter. I pray that this issue is resolved quickly and HG is home soon.
